Miley Cyrus: I’m Not Trying to Be Slutty
Miley Cyrus won’t be told what she should wear or what she should sing about.
The 17-year-old is releasing new album, “Can’t Be Tamed,” and is doing it her way, even though some say she is going to too far for her age.
“I’m not trying to be ‘slutty,’” said Cyrus in a recent interview. “I’m not trying to be like, go to the club and get a bunch of guys … What I’m trying to do is to make a point with my record and look consistent, in the way my record sounds and the way I dress.”
What she wears has been put under the spotlight recently. Some thought the video for “Can’t Be Tamed” was too provocative, and others have criticized her for revealing too much skin in her outfits.
Cyrus admits to being partial to shorts and hot pants. But she sees nothing wrong with flashing her legs.
“I’m really comfortable with my body, I work really hard to be fit and to know that I can wear whatever makes me most comfortable. I feel more comfortable dressing with a little less, which is just how I’ve always been,” she said.
“Now I’m able to do that a little more freely and, also, I’ve just grown up to be this way too. It’s not like this was me five years ago. It’s me now, presently.”
Maturing is Cyrus’ current mission.
She’ll finally shed the blonde wig of her Disney pop star persona, “Hannah Montana,” when it ends this year. Then Cyrus will be free to embrace her solo stardom and sex appeal.
“When you’re 11, the word you would use to describe someone is definitely not sexy, and as you get older I think you grow into that. And I think I’ve done that but that’s not my schtick. That’s not what I’m trying to do to sell records. I want people to buy my record because of my music.”

Billboard.Com Reviews Can’t Be Tamed
Miley aficionados may be wondering what her next album will bring: More uplifting country-tinged ballads, a la “The Climb”? Or more poppy earwigs like “Party in the U.S.A.”? As it turns out, Cyrus has a surprise in store-”Can’t Be Tamed” has several bass-heavy, slickly produced dance numbers that thunder in such a catchy, accessible way that it may make Ke$ha down another bottle of Jack out of envy.
“It was a natural progression for her,” says Abbey Konowitch, GM of Hollywood Records, which will make the album its first worldwide day-and-date release thanks in part to a new licensing deal with Universal Music Group in Europe. The title-track lead single turns the drum machine up to 11 as Cyrus belts out a party anthem chorus; it was sent to top 40 radio the week of May 3. “Who Owns My Heart” is full of ’80s-sounding keyboard riffs, and even the austerely named “Permanent December” is a throw-your-hands-in-the-air kind of track. “Two More Lonely People” also harks back to the ’80s, with Cyrus’ vocals reminiscent of Grace Slick’s on “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now.” In other words: Farewell, Hannah Montana.

Miley to Play Nashville Flood Benefit Concert
Taylor Swift donated $500,000 to Nashville flood relief last week, and the country superstar is continuing to do her part by lending her talents to Nashville Rising: A Benefit Concert for Flood Recovery on June 22. The event will be hosted by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, with funds helping Nashville recover from last week’s devastating floods.
Swift will be joined by fellow teen queen Miley Cyrus, as well as country stars like Carrie Underwood, Brooks & Dunn, LeAnn Rimes, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride and more names to come, People reports. The June show is set to take place at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. Funds will go to the Community Foundation, which provides philanthropic services in Middle Tennessee.
“The damage that we’ve seen to people’s homes and the effect that the flooding has had on their lives is unimaginable,” McGraw and Hill said in a statement. “But we’ve seen the spirit of our community firsthand, as volunteers, church groups and our local business leaders rally to help. We all need to continue to support those in need in any way that we can, and for that reason, we could not be more appreciative to all of the artists, the companies and the people behind the scenes who collectively will make June 22 a truly special night.”

Demi Moore on Miley Cyrus and “LOL”

The title of the flick might be “LOL,” but the thought of the pair onscreen together already has fans thinking “OMG!”
“She plays my daughter,” Demi told us Friday (April 9) of the upcoming flick. “It’s a remake of a French film called ‘LOL,’ with the same French director [Lisa Azuelos]. She’s incredible.”
Moore was promoting her new movie with actor David Duchovny to MTV.
“Can I come visit you on set with my daughter?” asked Duchovny, who watches “Hannah Montana” with his 10-year-old, knowing he’d get immediate cred as a hip dad.
“Yes, you can,” promised Moore, revealing that the film will shoot outside of Los Angeles. “But you will have to travel on location.”
“She’s funny,” Duchovny added, revealing himself as an unlikely fan of the “Last Song” actress. “I watch it with my kids, and I’ll be like, ‘That girl is funny!’ ”
“I’m really looking forward to it,” Moore said of the flick, which casts Miley as a teen who gets dumped by her boyfriend while her mother is simultaneously getting over her divorce, causing both to seek out new love while struggling to remain close to each other.
Recently, Moore met with Miley, and she told us they hit it off and the film is full-speed ahead. “We’re just kind of getting going,” Moore said.
“She’s great, and I think that she is incredibly grounded.”
Moore also said she got to spend some time with Billy Ray Cyrus, who makes it a point to stay involved in his daughter’s career. “[Miley] is a true professional, and she truly has a wonderful family,” Moore said. “It really shows.”
Miley’s New Video is “Edgy” with a “Giant Bird Cage”

Now that’s she done launching her Last Song in theaters, Miley Cyrus is getting back to work on her music.
She spent her weekend shooting the video for “I Can’t Be Tamed,” the first single off her new album, at Sony Studios in Culver City, sources confirm to E! News. And of course, her Aussie boyfriend, Liam Hemsworth, was also on set to support her.
The clip won’t be released until May, but we’ve got a sneak peek of what you can expect to see in what one insider calls an “edgy” video…
The clip features Miley caught in a giant bird cage. “Imagine ‘Party in the USA’ on steroids,” says a source close to the production. “It will blow people away.”
Miley appeared happy with the shoot herself—she was all smiles as she hosted a wrap dinner party Sunday night at Chateau Marmont. And yes, Liam was there as well.

Miley’s Very Own New Home
Miley Cyrus is now officially a homeowner of a $3.4 million house in Toluca Lake at the ripe age of 17.
The four-bedroom, four-and-a-half bathroom Spanish estate is located on almost one acre and includes a tennis court, pool, large master suite with his and her marble baths, a spacious living room with a fireplace and a two-bedroom guest house. It’s also two blocks away from the Cyrus family home.
The new abode comes with maximum security, natch, as the home is hidden behind a large brick wall covered in ivy and a wrought-iron gate. The house also boasts a long, private driveway.
Freddie Prinze Jr. was a previous owner.

‘The Last Song’ Debuts at #4
Miley’s newest movie The Last Song debuted at #4 at the Box Office! It was an incredible movie with a great deal of competition – Lots of great movies opened up this weekend along with it. Here’s what THR had to say about it’s opening:
Disney got a two-day jump on the session with Miley Cyrus starrer “The Last Song,” as the romantic drama took in $16.2 million in fourth place during the weekend and $25.6 million since its Wednesday bow; both sums were substantially higher than anticipated.
Miley Creating ‘Really Zen’ Vibe in New Home

When Miley Cyrus first became a huge tween star, her mom, Tish, made her promise one thing: To live at home until she’s at least 20.
“I got out of that!” Cyrus, 17, recently told PEOPLE with a laugh. “I’m actually buying a place. I haven’t moved in yet. I’m still reconstructing and stuff.”
Her mother’s reaction? “She’s stoked,” says Cyrus, who adds that her new home is “really, really close” to her family’s current Toluca Lake, Calif., residence.
“My house is going to be gorgeous because my mom is an interior designer,” says Cyrus, whose new film The Last Song is in theatres now. “It’s like if your mom’s a clothes designer you’re always going to look great. My mom’s an interior designer so my house is going to be perfect all the time.”
The star decided to create “a really zen” space for her first home. “We did all these different things to make it a place that’s so chill,” she says. “Like all my couches are on the floor and I have pillows on the floor. It’s just serene – like my own kind of therapy.”
“My religion is love,” adds Cyrus, “so my door is always open for anyone who wants to come in. It’s a just a loving place.”

‘I Can’t Be Tamed’ Has a Techno Vibe
After her summer album release, Miley Cyrus wants to take a break from making music. But her fans still have that next album to look forward to before she focuses solely on making movies, like “The Last Song,” out Friday (April 2). So what can they expect from Cyrus’ next batch of new music?
“My record is coming out this summer,” she said. “I’m excited about that. I’m looking forward to that, and then hopefully I can continue to do more films. [The album is] a little different. It’s kind of poppier, but then it still has an edge. All of my music kind of has to. I think it’s really fun. It’s definitely a good summer CD. It’s good to blast in your car.”
While much of Cyrus’ music has been more pop and even touched on country, she said this next album will have a bit of a Lady Gaga influence to it. “My new record has more of a techno vibe on some stuff. It’s fun,” she said. “You know, I just want to kind of do all different types of music, same as I do with movies. I never want to get stuck in a rut and just do one thing.”
In addition to the music on her own album, she has a duet with Bret Michaels, “Nothin’ to Lose,” for his record. The duo got some heat for the song’s racy content, but Cyrus just brushed it off. “I’ve always been super into his music,” she said. “He was the first concert that I ever went to, and it’s great when you can find people you can jive with and get along with.”
As much as she loves music, Cyrus said she’s ready for a break. “I have one more record coming out this summer in June, and then after that, I want to take a step back from music for a while,” she explained. “I want to continue to do film. Later in life, another record. But for now, I’d like to focus on movies.”
‘Hannah Montana’ Over This Year
Wave goodbye to “Hannah Montana.”
The upcoming fourth season will be its last, Disney officials told The Post.
Miley Cyrus — who plays Miley Stewart, a down-to-earth high schooler who leads a secret double life as pop star Hannah Montana — has been making noises for more than a year that she is ready to move on.
But the news quietly marks the end of one of the most successful kids’ shows ever. The show still averages nearly 5 million viewers a week.
“You never know in this business . . . but right now we’re scheduled to wrap [forever] after shooting this new batch of episodes,” says Disney Channel Worldwide’s Adam Bonnett, senior VP/programming.
Production on the fourth season is set to begin Jan. 18 and end sometime this summer — after Cyrus takes a short hiatus in April to promote her upcoming big-screen movie, “The Last Song.”
The fourth season will premiere “in late spring,” Bonnett says.
“The [new] episodes will continue to roll out at least over a full year,” he says.
The narrative framework for Season 4 will reflect the real-life struggle the actress is having leaving behind the character that made her famous.
The Season 3 finale, “Is Miley Saying Goodbye?” and slated to air in mid-March, is “a big one-hour event where we find out what Miley Stewart’s decision is going to be,” Bonnett says.
“It’s one of the things she’s been wrestling with for months — whether it’s time to make a decision to continue being Hannah Montana or just be a regular, ordinary girl.”
Bonnett says Ray Liotta will guest-star in the fourth-season opener, and the show has also snared “Two and a Half Men” teen Angus Young as a guest star in a future episode.
“Ray Liotta will play a role that no one would ever expect him to play in a teen sitcom,” he says.
Miley Cyrus’ relationship with Disney won’t end once “Hannah Montana” belts out her final number.
Miley’s CD label is Disney Records.

Bret Michaels: Miley ‘Nailed’ “Every Rose”
Miley Cyrus was excited to work with Bret Michaels on a “rad” cover of Poison’s classic ballad “Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” and the feeling was mutual. Michaels insisted that Cyrus is the real deal and he was honored that the star was interested in working with him on the song.
“It was really, really simple,” he told MTV News recently while promoting his cameo in “American Pie Presents: The Book of Love.” “I think her first concert was Poison. She saw us at Nashville at the arena. It was her introduction into rock and roll.”
He went on to say that despite her role on “Hannah Montana” and her reputation for making catchy pop, Cyrus truly does have a rock-and-roll spirit. “She’s one of the few musicians — and I want to use that word cause she can actually play and sing — she’s one of the few people who can pull it off and give it her own flare and make it sound good,” Michaels offered.
Although there’s still some work to be done on the track before it hits stores, the Poison frontman noted that Cyrus “nailed the song. She really knew what she was doing.” He added, “She got in there and picked the guitar up. It was one of those nights that just worked. It was fun. It’s gotta be her taking ‘Every Rose’ and making it all hers.”
He made sure to note that the track won’t be a duet. “Well, I’ll do some harmonies and stuff like that, but it’s gotta be her version,” he explained. “I think that’s what’s going to make the song feel like she owns it. She’s got a very contemporary twist to it … it has to be what she feels and [producer] John Shanks feels what’s playing on contemporary radio.”
